What is the course duration?

The duration of the classes for the course would be:

  • C-JAT I - 3 months
  • C-JAT II - 4 months
  • C-JAT III - 5 months
  • C-JAT IV - 6 months
  • C-JAT V - 12 months

However, if you are unable to keep with the course schedule or follow the classes regularly due to other preoccupations, you would probably take longer to complete the course. Therefore, the maximum duration to complete the course in such circumstances have been mentioned as 1 year.

When will I receive the materials?

You will receive the materials within 5 working days, if not within a few days considering no delays by the postal service. However, owing to varying circumstances, maximum duration in receiving the materials will be a fortnight. They will be sent by speed post. You will receive the tracking ID of the postal so that you can track it.

How do I clarify my queries/doubts while learning the language?

You will receive your teacher's email address. You may communicate with your teacher through email at any time. Skype sessions will be conducted on certain days of the month, between 4:00 to 5:00 PM IST, through which you may converse with the teacher directly. The Skype sessions differ for each level:
  • C-JAT I - 1st Friday of the month
  • C-JAT II - 2nd Friday of the month
  • C-JAT III - 3rd Friday of the month
  • C-JAT IV - 4th Friday of the month
  • C-JAT V - 4th Monday of the month

How do I start the course?

Using the student login credentials, you will have to login to the student portal on the hayakawa.in website using the below link.

Once you have done so, you will be able to access the class videos, course schedule, only materials, assignments, etc. You can follow the latest batch videos that are available. The course schedules will be available for each batch, once it has begun. The schedule will help you set a regular schedule to study and let you know when to submit assignments.

Will I get a Certificate for completing the course and is it valid in applying for jobs or for higher education in Japan?

Yes, you will receive a certificate for completion. Once you submit all the assignments for your level, you will be able to take up the appropriate C-JAT Test. On completion of this test, you will receive the certificate. The certificate is valid and can be used for the purposes you required.

Is there a test at the end of the course?

There is a C-JAT online exam that you will need to take at the end of the course. You will receive your certificate only after you have completed the test.

For how long is my Student Account valid?

Your student account is valid for a period of 1 year from the date of registration. Even after the course has completed, you may watch/review the class videos.

How can I watch the Class Videos?

There are 2 options when watching class videos; you can watch the live streaming of the class during the class time, or you can watch the recorded class videos once they are uploaded. The recorded videos will be uploaded within 72 hours of the class ending, and can be watched at anytime.

How do I submit my assignments?

You may submit your assignment by email. The email address you will have to send it to contact@hayakawa.in the email address through which all communications are made.

How do I login to the website?

You would have received your login credentials by email once you have made the payment for the course. You can login to the student page by entering the Student Login on the hayakawa.in webpage using the below link.

When can I join?

You can join the distance course at anytime. You will be able to follow along with the recorded class videos of the batch that started most recently. If you would like to start the course along with a new batch, you may wait for the new batch to start and follow along with the classes as they are conducted.

I am a student of the N5 level JLPT course from Hayakawa Japanese Language School correspondence course. I was searching for a good course that I could be a part of and it has been a wonderful experience, learning Japanese from Hayakawa. The class timings are quite flexible and the instructors are very helpful. They know quite a lot about the subject and have the patience to explain even the simplest of concepts is a very detailed manner. The text books are also well structured and complement the class teachings perfectly.

I have always wanted to learn Japanese but didn’t get to do it while I was in Chennai. Since I have a lot of time on my hands, I thought I should use it to study Japanese. I should say that taking up the Japanese distance education course from Hayakawa Japanese Language School was one of the wisest decisions I had made in the recent years. The Learn Japanese text book and the accompanying multimedia CD Rom provided by the school are of the highest quality and help one master the script and pronunciation very easily.
